{"id":1311,"date":"2024-03-01T10:45:47","date_gmt":"2024-03-01T15:45:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tcoulter.com\/WP\/?page_id=1311"},"modified":"2024-03-01T10:45:47","modified_gmt":"2024-03-01T15:45:47","slug":"i-did-it-my-way-chili","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/tcoulter.com\/WP\/whats-cooking\/i-did-it-my-way-chili","title":{"rendered":"I Did It My Way Chili"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>8 oz. dry red kidney beans<br \/>\n8 oz. dry black beans<br \/>\n12 cups water<br \/>\n1 teaspoon salt<br \/>\n4 teaspoon chili powder<br \/>\n1 teaspoon garlic powder<br \/>\n1 teaspoon onion powder<br \/>\n1 teaspoon cumin powder<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon black pepper<br \/>\n1\/4 cup chopped onion<br \/>\n1\/4 cup chopped green pepper<br \/>\n1\/4 cup chopped red pepper<br \/>\n12oz. vine ripened diced tomatoes<br \/>\n1 lb. 80\/20 grass feed beef (hamburger meat)<\/p>\n<p>Soak red and black beans in 6 cups of cold water for 6 to 8 hours.<br \/>\nDrain and rinse beans.<br \/>\nIn an adequate size saucepan cook beans in 6 cups of water with salt,  black pepper, 3 teaspoons of chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin powder, onion, and peppers for 90 minutes on medium heat (5).  Stir occasionally.<br \/>\nIn a separate pan, combine ground beef and 1 teaspoon of chili powder and cook until beef is browned.<br \/>\nAdd browned beef and tomatoes to the bean mixture.<br \/>\nReduce heat to medium low (3). Cook covered for 1 hour. Stir occasionally.<br \/>\nReturn heat to medium (5).
